Men in blues’ pillars of strength’s strength is a must too.
Before I start ; a respectful crisp salute to all the officers of Indian Air Force and their best halves.
I, Being an officer’s wife, I am sure many of us must be securing out sarees or packing or unpacking their stuff as you read this.
Blimey!
Pat on our backs ya! We girls are so powerpacked!
Life of all the men in blues’ wives is so exceptional that makes us scintillatingly dexterous jugglers in tackling jobs. We are highly capable of being omnipresent in all the tasks circumventing us and manage myriads of chores alone. No offence to all my civilian lovelies albeit they all are prodigiously capable.
Nevertheless, certainly we are vastly divergent because that good lord gave us a lucky chance to tie the nuptial knot with “men in blue”.
Umm, His way to bless us may be.
Now, you must be thinking how can I be so sure about my words.
Well, it’s been 10 long exciting years, since I got baptised as in walked down the aisle with my superman aka my hero of the nation; a young Air Force officer. Not only I became a part of him and his family but also an important cog in the wheel of this fraternity ie INDIAN AIR FORCE.
That day tying the knot with him also meant fraternizing this epic and prestigious fraternity’s culture, norms, ideals and traditions as well and trust me; the journey has been such a joyful kaleidoscopic ride till date that I just can’t pen it all down on one page.
I was indeed very thrilled to be a part of this fraternity.
But poof!!!
Soon I realised that life in the Air Force is not always a ball-room dancing.
Yes it is a rapturous life everyday in here and I truely more than love it but it is very demanding and comes with its pleasures as well as pains.
These Air Force officers get married to their aircrafts and their duty way before getting married to us. #respect
Hence, taking care of them, the house, the kids, actively and enthusiastically participating in afwwa, ladies club and managing it all single handedly needs a lot of physical and mental strength especially when they are on dets.
We are highly capable of singlehandedly facing all kinds of daily life challenges for instance: Driving a car, upbringing kids when husband is on TD as a father and a mother both, shifting from one house to another, hosting dinners at short notice or even no notice at times, happily serving coffee at such small hours when even “cafe coffee day” would refuse to entertain; if at all it’s there in the town;(wink), setting up the jerry built houses from scratch after every 2 to 3 years, lodging MES complaints, loading trunks(more than half of them are full of mementos) in the truck, drilling nails on the wall, draping a saree before you can finish saying “jack Robinson” ? and staying trussed up in that for hours and hours is very exciting but does take a lot of toll.
Now you know why i said that our ilk is certainly pretty divergent.
This strength is the only cape that makes us all our nation’s superheroes’ superwives.
We all are strong from inside but what about being stronger physically.
Some of us are working wives/mothers and some are stay at home wives/mothers but both have their own set of everyday battles.
Nevertheless, our fauji life has given us a lot to be thankful for and to continue living it to the fullest and with the same josh we need to lionize our mind and body balance as well.
Then why not sweat it all out as workouts will not only release happy hormones (endorphins) but will also improve your strength, stamina, work-life balance, energy levels, endurance, confidence and all things good that you need to be a stronger woman.
Hey you gorgeous women!
Inhale deeply and exhale completely!
Do it the way you like it, Get into meditation, yoga, aerobics, Zumba, running, functional training, body weight training, resistance training, Pilates or anything that rocks your boat.
Plus to cap it all, even you also need time for yourself,
You deserve it, indulge into what you love but also take care of your health, your mental peace and happiness.
It’s not about dragging yourself through a workout in the hope of reaching a goal; it’s about loving the time you spend doing it. When I started my fitness journey, trust me it wasn’t easy; I preferred partying around over working out but when I started to feel the difference for good, it all changed and now it’s way beyond all that as well. It’s just like breathing for me, an important part of my daily life like a therapy.
And yes I know that Carving out time for yourself is always a challenge, but it is the first step towards self-love. And the only way to love others is by first taking care of and loving yourself.
Like they say it’s never too late to dream a dream likewise it’s never too late to get fitter and stronger.
Afterall, your happiness is his happiness and your strength
is his strength too.
With our busy lives, we need to set aside time for exercise every week, because it never happens if left up to chance!
Working out gives you more energy, helps you lose weight, improves your circulation and your mood, tones your muscles, and makes you healthier. You owe it to yourself and your family to stay as healthy as you can.
Even 10 minutes everyday helps a lot and you can also bring in your kids and partner into the act to make it that much easier.
As a bonus, exercise with family does adds up to some quality family time together as well.
After all the most precious gift you can gift yourself and to someone you love the most is Health!
We are women, that’s our superpower, tame it!!
Let’s celebrate being us everyday!
